Pets are allowed only on the Pacific Crest Trail portion of the loop outside of the park, and they must be leashed. Camping is permitted on adjacent United States Forest Service lands. Nor are there any suitable sites for camping along the Pacific Crest Trail within the park. There is no camping along the Naches Peak Loop Trail within Mount Rainier National Park. This loop provides the hiker with breathtaking views of the Mountain, a look at beautiful subalpine meadows, and an abundant supply of huckleberries in late summer and early fall. To get the best views of Mount Rainier, hike the loop in a clockwise direction. Log footbridges frequently wash out during the winter or other conditions could be affecting the trail. NOTE: Always check current trail conditions before heading out. To continue the loop and return to Tipsoo Lake in 1.4 miles, follow the Naches Loop Trail along the west side of Naches Peak. It starts out along the Pacific Crest Trail at Chinook Pass and leads south, traversing the east side of Naches Peak 1.6 miles until intersecting the Naches Loop Trail. This easy loop is one of the most popular hikes in the park. For a clockwise hike of the Naches Peak Loop Trail, follow the trail from the picnic area to Chinook Pass and the Pacific Crest Trail. Not ready to leave the park yet? Check out nearby White River Campground in the Sunrise section of the park to grab yourself an overnight spot.Park at Tipsoo Lake. Rainier locked in sight! The short hike back ends with you approaching Upper Tipsoo Lake before descending down to your original starting point. Got your fills worth of trail mix/cheese and crackers? Then time to finish up the fun half of the loop with Mt. There are a few little side trails at this junction that give you the chance to find a nice private spot to stop and enjoy a mid-hike snack with a view. Trekking on another mile will then bring you to a junction with the Pacific Crest Trail and an outlook of the nearby Dewey Lakes. About one mile in you will reach a tiny unnamed lake that when looking back down the trail yields fantastic views of the mountain lines which lie behind you. In July and August wildflowers are on their best display after the last of the snow has melted away. It will start by shuffling you up a hill, across a road, and finally opening up into a luscious green valley. Once your'e ready, head back towards the parking lot where the Naches Peak Trail truly begins. On a clear day it can provide some great glimpses of Rainier over its shiny green waters. Before you set out on the trail be sure to do a circle around Tipsoo. To do this you will want to park at the first parking lot you see off of 410 at Tipsoo Lake. It is recommended to hike the trail in a clockwise direction as the southern portion of the trail will keep Mt. Half located within Mount Rainier NP and half within Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, Naches Peak is a 3.5 mile trail with minimal elevation gain (700ft) yet with views worthy of a much longer hike. Naches Peak Loop Trail is a great introductory trail to Mount Rainier National Park situated on the Eastern side of Rainier. Rainier, lake and valley views, and wildflowers in July & August.
